This oil is "wild crafted", an official program under USDA Organic. Wild camellia bushes grow best at 1500 feet elevation in the mountains of China. The seeds are certified to the wildcrafting standard. The seeds are collected and processed under the organic processing rules. This is done in small communities that live in these mountains. China produces more than 90% of the world’s camellia oil. Camellia bushes can grow to 20 feet, and they produce beautiful, white flowers. Organic Camellia Oil is produced from the original camellia flower, camellia oleifera, that we now see in the 100s of other varieties of camellias in American gardens.

Camellia oil is stable due to the high amounts of omega 9 (oleic acid). Its sensory characteristics are much less intense than other unrefined oils. This oil has been used for more than 1000 years in China and across Asia.
