What does this mean for the cosmetic industry? Well, large brands are responsible to identify and communicate possible negative environmental and human rights impacts. They will also be expected to address and change those negative effects.
Examples of negative impacts are plastic waste, petroleum derived ingredients, forever chemicals, and non-biodegradable ingredients.

Even if you are a smaller brand, what can you do? You can begin by looking at all of your ingredients and all of your claims. If you say something is natural or organic, do you have a certificate from a credible certifier? If you say your ingredients are bio-degradable, do you have the analytical data or study to prove it? If you make any claim in the area of sustainability, how does it sit with this new regulation?

At Oh, Oh we make every effort to only carry verifiably sustainable ingredients. Most of them are USDA-NOP Organic and many are COSMOS or NATRUE certified.
