Characteristics

Roman chamomile is a perennial plant and grows vigorously with procumbent stems that divide many times. Its leaves are whitish-green and medium in size. Its yellow flowers are arranged on solitary heads. Its fragrance is penetrating.

The biological activity of chamomile essential oil is mainly due to the flavonoids apigenin, luteolin, quercetin, patuletin and essential oil constituents such as α-bisabolol and azulenes.

Research has shown Chamomile can cause a significant increase in the rate of wound healing.

Benefits

Chamomile has anti-inflammatory, deodorant, bacteriostatic, antimicrobial, sedative and antiseptic properties. This oil has been safely used (in diluted form) in baby and children’s products for centuries and there are almost zero allergens in the essential oils. It is famous for its characteristic ability to calm and relax the user.
