Activated Silk™ Hydrogel P1-α

The results show Activated Silk™ Hydrogel P1-α forms a novel proteoglycan structure with a peptide backbone and multiple carbohydrate side chains that bind large volumes of water at the molecular level.

The Activated Silk™ peptide backbone also binds to keratin in the skin, anchoring hydration directly to the surface. This dual water-binding and keratin-binding mechanism enables powerful hydration at extremely low doses and allows hydration to remain effective even in rinse-off products.

Clinical testing demonstrates up to 24-hour hydration performance and hydration power up to 8× that of hyaluronic acid on a weight basis, without the stickiness or dehydration risk associated with HA.
